Wine Cellar - Vina Koper

The nobility and preciousness of our wines are the heritage of a thousand years of tradition of winemaking and winegrowers of the Slovenian Istria, and the fruit of exceptional natural features of the corrugated coastal hills of the Istrian landscape. The company Vinakoper is honoured to hold the title of one of the largest winegrowers in Slovenia. They have been producing superior wines since 1947.

Cabernet Sauvignon Capodistra - Wine Cellar Koper

Sort: Cabernet sauvignon

Sweetness of wine: dry

Vintage: exclusively hand picking in the first half of October

Harvest: After removing stems the perfectly ripe grapes macerate for 18 days. After the biological deacidification the wine is left to mature in 225-litre barrique barrels for at least 3 years or until bottling.

Origin: viniferous county of Slovene Primorska region and Slovene Istria

Soil type: Eocene flysch with marl and gravel

WINE DESCRIPTION:

Colour: Deep and intensive ruby colour with a shade of garnet.

Aroma: The aroma of this wine contains ripe sour cherry, plum jam, green pepper, dark chocolate and undergrowth, finalized with sophisticated wood notes.

Taste: This wine has a rich and full taste with hints of sour cherry in brandy, dark chocolate and tobacco. The aftertaste is long and amazing with pampering velvety tannins.

Food recommendation: This particular wine goes beautifully along beefsteaks and steaks, especially in pepper or onion sauces or when made with truffles. It also serves magically with venison.

Vintage: exclusively hand picking in the first half of October

Harvest: Phenolic mature grapes are carefully removed of stems and macerated for 15 days. After the biological deacidification the wine is left to mature in new and used barrique barrels for at least 3 years.

Origin: viniferous county of Slovene Primorska region and Slovene Istria

Location: Debeli rtič, Purissima

Soil type: Eocene flysch with marl and gravel

WINE DESCRIPTION:

Colour: Remarkably intensive ruby colour with a garnet edge.

Aroma: Intensive notes of ripe dark fruit, blueberry jam, vanilla, dark chocolate and juniper berry with a pleasant aroma of selected wood.

Taste: This amazingly rich and complex wine taste offers hints of ripe blueberry, sour cherry in brandy, dark chocolate and spices. The aftertaste is followed by velvety tannins and sophisticated wood notes.

Food recommendation: This wine serves greatly with beef dishes, pork dishes and venison. It also complements food with a touch of spicy gravies and will enhance the lovely taste of mid-ripe cheeses.

Sweetness of wine: dry

Vintage: exclusively hand picking in the first half of October

Harvest: Distinctly ripe grapes are macerated up to 18 days. The wine stays in big oak barrels until the end of the biological deacidification. After that it is poured into barrique barrels to mature for at least two more years.

Origin: viniferous county of Slovene Primorska region and Slovene Istria

Soil type: Eocene flysch

WINE DESCRIPTION:

Colour: Intensive ruby colour.

Aroma: The aroma will surprise with a great deal of ripe fruitfulness that reminds of blackberry, jams, sour cherry, mulberry, blueberry and dry mediterranean spices. A good taster will feel the touch of wood and undergrowth.

Taste: This wine has a wide a rich taste with pleasant acids keeping it vivacious and fruity ripe. The grand structure of the tannins and extraction provide the wine with a long lasting beautiful aftertaste.

Food recommendation: Refošk will play nicely with rich and fatty dishes. It serves greatly with dried meat products, steaks, beefsteaks and meaty barbecue dishes.
